National Police Week:

In 1962 President John F. Kennedy designated May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the calendar week in which May 15th falls as National Police Week.  In 1994 President Bill Clinton signed public law 103-322 requiring that the American flag be lowered to half staff on all government buildings on May 15th.

Staff Sergeant Lund, Congressman Mario Biaggi, Commander Al VanHaute-Green Bay WI PD.  Congressman Biaggi is the founder of the memorial.  Congressman Biaggi worked at NYPD for 23 years.  Congressman Biaggi is the most decorated police officer in the United States.  Congressman Biaggi was shot 10 times and stabbed four times in the line of duty.
